Richard Monteverde is a native of Winter Haven graduating from Winter Haven High School in 1999. He attended the United States Military Academy from 1999-2002 and served in the US Army as an Infantryman till 2007.  He obtained his B.S. in Information Technology from USF in 2012.  During his time at USF he discerned a calling to the Priesthood which led him to attend St John Vianney College Seminary, where he received his B.Phil (Bachelors of Philosophy) in 2014. Through spiritual direction and prayer he discerned he wasn’t called to the Priesthood but wish to continue to serve the Diocese of Orlando.

Richard has worked as a Retreat Leader for the Quo Vadis retreat. He must recent position was at St Anthony Catholic Church as the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries.  During his time at St Anthony Catholic Church he formed Small Mentorship Groups for the High School Girls and High School Boys.  As well as started a small faith sharing group for the Young Adults of North Lakeland.  Understanding the important role that men play in the faith of their family Richard began a quarterly night of Eucharistic Adoration, Food, Fellowship, and learning about Jesus, named Catholic Man Night. Richard has taken a personal interest in social justice ministry and has been involved as a spokesperson for the PEACE youth arrest reduction committee. He has a strong devotion to St Ignatius and to the Blessed Mother.

In his free time he is an avid supporter of Everton Football Club and Orlando City Soccer Club.  Richard is recently married to his wife Marisa, and has started to build a home together with their two dogs Kaia and Parka.  His future professional goals includes getting his Masters in Theology with a focus in Mariology and earning certification as a spiritual director.
